Cocktails for Ding Dongs
by Dustin Drankiewicz
illustrated by Alexandra Ensign
Have you ever wanted to make a really good Sazerac but felt too dimwitted to master its complexity? Can’t imagine what on earth an egg white would be doing swimming with whiskey? Cocktails for Ding Dongs features classic cocktail recipes with a twist, plus helpful hints, tips, and tricks from one of America's most celebrated bartenders, to prove that even you can shake up drinks that will delight your friends and fellow dummies.
With appearances from pop culture characters, inebriated ponies, and sassy squirrels, and featuring a foreword by Jake Austen, creator of the iconic zine Roctober and alternative comic connoisseur, this illustrated cocktail guide dissolves the misconception that a perfectly-crafted cocktail is too complicated for the average ding dong.
PRAISE FOR COCKTAILS FOR DING DONGS:
"Cocktails for Ding Dongs is the bar book equivalent of a flamingo swizzle stick: if truly delicious cocktails weren't enough to get you in a good mood, Drankiewicz's hilarious recipes and Ensign's playful comics will surely do the trick. Now go get some booze, your strainer, and your shaker and have some fun, you dumb dumb!"
—Marnie Galloway, cartoonist and author of In the Sounds and Seas
"What a joy it is reading this marvelous book about boozing! It's craftily written with lots of fine drink recipes, and the drawings are charming in an innocent, homemade way."
—Tony Millionaire, cartoonist and author of Maakies
"Dustin Drankiewicz brings a laid back approach to cocktail making that sways from the pretentiousness that many in the libation field would be quick to learn from. Simple, well-thought-out flavor combinations and a nod to the classics will make Cocktails for Ding Dongs a classic book to draw influence for your next dinner party or drunkening event!"
—Chef Jared Wentworth, executive chef for the Michelin-starred restaurants Longman & Eagle and Dusek's
"Luckily for me I drink. Professionally. Take my advice and have a well made tipple on hand while thumbing through this book. At least you'll have that going for you. In a pinch, tear out the pages, as they seem to be absorbent and make adequate cocktail napkins."
—Charles Joly, award-winning mixologist, co-founder of Crafthouse Cocktails
