The Cool Kids / #EB25

  • Empty Bottle 1035 North Western Avenue Chicago, IL, 60622 United States (map)

Hip-hop duo THE COOL KIDS got their start on the Bottle stage back in ‘06/’07. Part of the mid-2000s hip-hop movement, THE COOL KIDS consist of Mikey Rocks (Antoine Reed) and Chuck Inglish (Evan Ingersoll). The two met after Mickey came across some of Chuck's beats on the interwebs. They met up in their Chicago homes with the intention of making beats to sell to other artists. Soon enough, they realized the measured, smooth flows and lyrics they were coming up with best fit over their own production. In 2007, they were brought on as part of Pitchfork summer music festival, after previously only released music via Myspace. Shortly after, they secure aspot at New York's CMJ Music Marathon, where they shared a showcase with DJ A-Trak -- who offered to put out their EP -- and an opening spot on M.I.A.'s solo tour. THE COOL KIDS signed to Chocolate Industries that same year, releasing their debut, the Bake Sale EP, in January 2008. Their full-length album When Fish Ride Bicycles came in 2011, and their latest album, Write In, is awaiting release in 2017.

2017 marks our quarter life crisis, and we want to celebrate with all of you! We're bringing back bands of Bottle's past for an EB25 series throughout the year. Come one, come all - let's party like it's 1992.
