Curbside Books & Records is Hiring a Bookseller!

We're hiring a part-time bookseller for our recently opened bookstore, Curbside Books & Records, in Revival Food Hall in Chicago's South Loop.

The ideal bookseller will be a voracious reader and will already possess knowledge of independent presses (like Coffee House Press, featherproof books, Wave, etc.) and record labels (like Drag City, Numero Group, Thrill Jockey, etc.), a desire to brainstorm and develop ideas for events and programming, and experience creating social media and website content for a business.

Our ideal ideal candidate will also possess a tendency to geek out about books and records and a particular love of talking about those things with other people.

It'd also be great if you like plants.

The store is new to our publishing company, and therefore offers potential experimentation with inventory curation, programming, and community engagement. We'd love to hire someone who finds these things as exciting as we do. This position is perfect for someone who thinks independently and freely, has strong communication skills, and finds collaboration to be a generally enlightening experience.

Previous experience in bookselling, event coordination, and social media management is preferred, but not required.

Curbside Books & Records is located in Revival Food Hall at 125 5. Clark. Store hours are Monday to Friday, 11:00 am - 7:00 pm, and are subject to change during the upcoming holiday season. This position is part-time; candidates can expect to work 16-24 hours weekly.

To apply for this position, email your resume to Naomi Huffman, editor-in-chief at Curbside Splendor Publishing, at naomi[at]curbsidesplendor.com.
